Sorry for the delay in responding.

Have you taken the cover off and looked at the Fans? IF not then do so. Sounds like either your PC is over heating or the Power supply is going out.

How often does it do this. With a certain program or Random?

Depending on the age of your computer there should be at least one fan in your Power Supply, which is an exhaust fan, so you should be able to feel it blow air out of the back of the case. You should also have a fan on the CPU. This fan should be sitting on a square or rectangular block with large fins. Make sure that this fan is turning fast and is not full of dirt - all fans tend to get this way. There could be other fans that you would see if you took the sides off your case - they all need to be dirt free and turning fast. For everything except the Power Supply fan, you can clean with a can of compressed air that you can buy from any computer or tech store. If you're not familiar with taking things apart and the blades (you can see them from the back) are cruddy, then have someone with a bit of experience open the Power Supply case and clean it for you.
