I'd like to know how data is sent over these Cat5 cables.
Does the NIC send something like +5volts over the line at a
certain clock cycle?

It's magic. :D

Hehe. =)
Na I'm pretty sure it uses 5 volts using the manchester waveform
encoding. I am trying to figure how to convert it to another
waveform (such as NRZ) and then back again.
However, I'll probably have to find some engineering site for
this information. = \
Anyhow, thanks for the reply. = )

you could always get a transciever ;)

Yeah I was thinking of trying to build one, but I can't seem to find
what kind of IC's will be able to read and transmit data over
those waveforms. I've seen those media converters, but I'm not
sure what components they use to be able to convert the
10baseT cables to fiber optic cables. (And I don't believe I'll be
able to get a schematic off the manufacturer) = )
