Hey eveyone, I hope you are all having a merry christmas.
I'll start by detailing the problem. For those of you that remember, I was having problems with internet dropouts on my wireless network a little while ago. Well since that time we've changed my connection to the router (a DLINK G604T) to ethernet, using CAT5 UTP cable. The problems persist. At night, or indeed early morning, I will normally get a number of dropouts form the internet. I have tried pinging both the router and other servers during this time (such as the iinet DNS) and have recieved the following error message "destination port unreachable". The iinet support staff report that we are not losing sync as often as we are reporting dropouts. Therefore, it is most likely not a modulation problem. The obvious solution is to switch routers because the one we have may simply be faulty; however, we have tried this and the problem still persists with the new router. The next step in the troubleshooting process is to see whether a different brand of router (such as belkin) makes any difference to the situation. However, before I jump into buying a new router I thought that I would consult you guys and see whether you had any suggestions or advice on the issue, since you have been so helpful in the past.
Basically this post is an enquiry about that error message and to see whether it is a clear indicator of the problem we're having. Any advice or suggestions you may have would be greatly appreciated and I'd like to thankyou again for your help in the past.
Thanks again,
Elliot
EDIT: I got the error message wrong in the topic title it was meant to read "destination port unreachable" sorry for the confusion.
