Whenever I open and dos application, even command, the screen becomes garbled and I can't do anything except reboot.

Anyone have any idea why this might be happening?

I'm not sure if this is related to your problem but you can see.

Or you can re-install DOS

First of all ensure that you've set PCConfig to Boot from floppy and saved the config. Put PC DOS diskette no. 1 (the setup diskette) into the floppy drive, then double-click on PCx86 to load it. The PC DOS welcome screen should appear, and from then on it should be just a case of following the screen prompts to install DOS. Depending on your requirements, it may be necessary for you to set certain international settings such as Country, Keyboard, Font etc. Take care over these, or you may not find characters such as £ or $ in the correct place on your keyboard, and the date format may be incorrect for your country.

I have tried making this change, but the problem still exists after rebooting. :hmm:

Does the screen remain readable when you boot to DOS-only mode? If it does, then there may be a problem with your video driver settings or some other video display component. To check for the exact cause, you would need to try a different monitor, different video card, and make sure the video card and monitor drivers are OK.

I plugged in another monitor, but got the same garbled screen on both screens. I booted from a floppy, and it worked fine on both monitors.

Do you think I need to reinstall Win95 or Dos? I hope I can find the disks..

If your boot from a floppy worked OK, and another monitor did not correct the problem, then it is most likely a display adapter (video card) driver problem. You might check to see if there is an updated version of the driver for your video card available for download from the manufacturer's web site.
