Error Msgs & Freezeing st startup

hi,
I was hoping maybe someone here can help me
For a while now, when I start my PC it freezes on me.
sometimes I cant even get past the goback...or the windows screen~
So, I have to restart, and it just does it again , usually after the 4th restart its finally OK.

today, during startup I got the Blue screen with error:
0E: 0028: C0050FA6

its said to press any key to continue so when i hit the space bar

it said: An exception OE has occured at 0E: 0028: C0050FA6 in VXD called from 0028 c00e4cec in VXD

A friend told me i needed to reinstall my OS over my old one.
I dont want to lose anything i have on my pc right now.
I have like 500 songs and like 200 pictures If I reinstall my OS windows ME is that like doing a system restore where it will take my PC back to the way it was when i bought it?

Please help.
my pc is only going on 2 yrs old

Hello,angel

Ok if you can get it to startup for you
& you get to your desktop please try this

goto start / settings / Control Panel /
open Internet Options & click on Delete cookies
also click on Clear History now goback to your
desktop & close all running Programs & you

May or may not need to disable the
Virus scanner to run scandisk & defrag
now run a full system scan but make sure
it is an up dated Virus scanner try that &
see if it helps now here is something i
