Ok so heres my problem. Im running a pc and a laptop both on XP Sp2. I also have a belkin wireless router to which I connect the 2 computers to. For the life of me I cannot figure out why I cannot access a "shared" folder for the network. I discovered that in my "shared" folder, its only good for sharing between users on the same pc.
Ive checked and both computers are connected on to the default MSHOME network, and it is secured by an encription. Can anyone tell me the stupid thing im forgetting here to share files? Obviously the connection is there between the computers, but no sharing. Can anyone help?

Are you running XP home or pro on both or a mix of the two? Do you have the a firewall running that may be blocking local traffic either the windows firewall or something like norton internet security or zone alarm? If you have a firewall running you will need to tune it so that local traffic will be allowed. If you don't have a firewall running try re-running the network setup wiz on each computer. Make sure under lan properites that printer and file sharing is listed as installed. If all that looks as it should go to start/run in the run box type cmd and then at a prompt type net view and post what it says in here.

Well this is the thing mugsy, i cant find the other pc on the network to check its permissions. Its weird. Im connected to the network and i made it so that you have to manually go into network settings in control panel and hit connect for the laptop to connect to my belkin network, so i know its not connecting to some other remote network by mistake........
and what exactly is maping? Sorry im a bit new to this
