Ok, I'm still somewhat new to the whole idea of networking, but hopefully I can give what information is needed right off the bat.
Running two computers, the host is XP (SP2), the client is ME. Connected to the internet via internal modem , dial-up, connected via LAN, network hub, proxy server running on host computer. New as I may be, I've gotten some help, and have managed to connect the 2 to the following degree:
the host has no issues whatsoever
the client can connect to the internet to browse, download, etc, anything that involves using a browser works just fine.
Now, heres my problem. I was hoping to play a game with my girlfriend at the same time (were side by side of course), but I cant connect to the servers on the client (OS ME) computer, even when the host is not logged on to said game. This particular game does not prohibit multiple log-ins on the same IP (we can log on 4 different accts on one computer, as long as it isnt the client computer).
Now, in another game we play, it does not allow the same IP to log on two different accts at the same time, so I can understand why it does not allow me to log on THAT game with the client, when the host is already connected. Any help would be appreciated in getting me connected to the point that I can actually do more then browse and downloadon the client computer. It does not seem to be a matter of simply opening ports, as has been suggested to me, though I could be wrong. I've opened ports required on the clients firewall AND proxy, but to no avail. Im told to open them on the client computer, but with no firewall, Im at a loss how to accomplish this.
Sorry for rambling, as I said, trying to get all the information out in one go so we dont play forums tag for a few days.
Many thanks for any help that is forthcoming.
