I have just bought an Envisage 160gb USB external hard drive but I can't get it to run on my Mac. I have a powerbook G4 running Mac OS X 10.2.3. When I plug it in the hard drive lights up but the computer doesn't respond-am I missing some sort of software to enable it to see it? It runs fine off my PC.
Cheers,
Luke

Chances are the hard drive isn't formatted to work with a Mac. You usually need a FAT format for the drive to wok on both Mac and PC. You can try reformatting the drive with the Mac. That should make it visible to both the Mac and PC.

Luke,
Have you formatted the drive or did it come pre formatted, anyhow what is the format?
For it to be compatible with Mac and PC it would have to be Fat 32 format.
Why are you stuck on Mac OS X 10.2.3 when you should be at 10.2.8?
If this is a powered HD and/or Laptop size and has USB and Firewire I know that some ext HD's need both FW and USB connected on the Mac.
