Just got a new PSP, and I bought a Lexar 1GB Memory Stick Pro Duo for it.
Notes:
- The card has been properly formatted through the PSP.
- All files have been tested in the correct directory on the Memory Stick.
- I'm using Windows XP, with the PSP on version 2.60. (Don't ***** to me about homebrew apps, I don't care)
- The card has been formatted through PC.
Problem:
- Getting about 30 seconds into an MP3 and then the PSP telling me it's corrupt.
Observations:
- Saves seem to work fine.
- If I load some images onto the stick, a few will be corrupt, a few wont.
- The Official Sony PSP Memory Stick I got with the pack (32MB) works okay with MP3s, although I have had corruption on it once.
- By corruptions, I mean the file coming up as totally corrupt, either straight away or after about 30 seconds of playback, or nasty squeaks and hiccups throughout the song.
Solutions tried:
- Cable. I read on some forum that someone was having a similar problem, and after ringing Sony or something, they told her to change the cable due to a design fault. I've tried a few cables from MP3 players and digital cameras (same type of course), a MadCatz and an official GAME (Electronics Botique) cable, with no change.
- Using the Safely Remove Hardware process on Windows before disconnecting the PSP. No change. (And I diddn't think it would matter :p.. I cancel the USB connection from the PSP before I pull the cable out anyway).
My own ideas:
- Attempting to transfer MP3 files onto the same Memory Stick, in a different PSP, and playing the files on there. (To determine whether it's the Memory Stick that's the problem, but saves work fine..)
- Using someone elses Memory Stick on my PSP and transferring the MP3s on through USB to see if they work then.(To determine whether it's my PSP that's the problem, but like I said, saves work fine..)
So please, anyone, if you have any experience with a similar problem relating to media on the PSP, or even just some ideas, that would be great :)
Cheers.
