degradation

I currently have a 56k dial up internet connection. But, I have another computer that has an internet connection with a external dsl modem (Speedstream 5100). Anyway, I treid putting the dsl modem on my other computer, but i am having trouble setting it up. I have already connected the dsl modem to the computer and treid to connect to the internet (AOL), but AOL is not detecting the dsl modem, just my dial up modem. Anybody have any suggestions? Thanks.
