Something you might want to do first is to get your network adapter installed correctly. Look in device manager to see if your network card is listed. If you see it there look for a ! or ? beside it. If there is a ! or ? beside it then right click the adapter listed go to properities click that and a box will pop up. In that box look for Device Status and it should tell you if its working or if it's not and if not give you an error code. After you get the networke adapter working then the next step would be to connect the router and the cable modem with cat5 or "ethernet" cable. The modem plugs into the routers WAN port then plug that computer into port 1 on the router. Post back if you can get that far and some one can take you from there. This may need to be a multi post topic so hang in there and we will get you hooked up

Error code 10 usually means you need to update your driver.
Error code 28 usually means the driver was not completely installed You might want to try and reinstall the driver. You should be able to download the drivers from http://www.realtek.com.tw/downloads/downloads.aspx Make sure you have the correct driver and also make sure the adapter is connected properly. Put the model no. of your adapter in the keyword search box and then download the driver that matches your OS. In your case you said Windows XP. |
