Can't start windows
When I turn my computer on it starts loading windows or whatever and then when it's about 1/4 of the way done it stops and says that a file is missing or corrupt and then tells me to put in the windows 2000 cd or floppy to fix it. i put in the cd and nothing happens. the drive opens but it doesnt spin the cd or read anything. Is there a way i can do a clean install of win2000?

It sounds like your going to have to do a repair install.
Boot to the Windows 2000 CD and select Enter to do an install, after that you'll see options to repair your current Windows installation.

I cant get the CD to be read by the computer. before this happened i was having trouble with my CD drive. It would open and close fine and the device manager said nothing was wrong but it wouldnt read CDs. I have to find a way to fix it because if i got a new one, wouldnt i need windows to be able to install it? I am so lost.

You want to boot to the BIOS settings (usually Del key during boot up) and see if
the CD-ROM is recognized in there. It should be listed as Auto or Automatic as well.
