connectivity problems, hp scanjet 5470c

i use windows xp. i have an hp scanjet 5470c. i can't get it to connect (be recognized by the computer). the closest to an answer by searching the web is that i may need to powercyle the scanner. cool. they don't tell me HOW to do this, only recommend that i do. any help will be appreciated. thanks, boyd.

How is it connected, via USB or parallel cable?

hey, zip!

when i uninstalled it before re-installing a part of it was still in my comp. i went through and found the part hiding out and deleted it. then the install went fine. thanks for helping, boyd.
