no monitors work for this computer

i found this pc its a compaq windows 2000 probably from 2002 i turns on but no monitors will work for it, i know the monitors work but when i plug it in they just go to their standyby form(the green light turns yellow). any thoughts?

Most likely the graphics card is dead or not setup properly. Try using another one.

Welcome to CTH

Yes it could be that the graphics card on the computer is faulty, but it could be that the whole computer is faulty, you say you found it? Could it have been dumped because it was no good?

When you turn it on, does the power light come on? Do the fans run? Can you hear the harddrive operating? If you put a floppy disk in the drive does the light come on and the disk spin?

It could be the graphics card, memory, processor or motherboard. Where did you find it? In the bin?

i tossed the pc, but i took out the cd-rw and dvd drives. just incase i need them for another pc

Yup good idea thats what I do find a pc in a skip strip it down sell parts on Ebay. Its good money. Well if you consider 50p for a socket seven Mobo good money
