Rebooting after connecting USB devices?

Hi

Happy New Year to all.

I have been having a problem with my Win2000 PC. Periodically when I connect any external USB devices (eg digital camera, memory card reader/writer, USB MP3 player, pen drive etc), the PC reboots without warning. However, on other occassions the devices seem to work OK. There doesn't seem to be any particular pattern to the rebooting, and it isn't too much of a problem as I have learned to save all work before connecting anything, but as you can imagine it can be a real pain to have to keep waiting for the computer to restart over and over again.

Any idea as to what I can do to prevent this. Could it be an issue with drivers or something? if so, is there a latest driver I could download??

Many thanks in advance

Sounds like either a driver problem or a hardware confilct. A good first step is to update all of your drivers to the latest versions, especially the USB ones. An easy way to do this is Windows Update, but keep track of what it updates as it doesn't always have the latest drivers for everything.
