This box that I am on has ME...
I know nothing about this OS...

Can someone direct me to some information?

Mainly I am trying to control the startup items as well
as tring to get rid of the junk...

If you are familiar with win98...then you are familiar with ME. Not a whole lot of difference. Even the start group is similar under msconfig. The only real differences are things like PC health, which is a group of components that supposedly help you do things. And Statemgr...which is part of the system restore and file protection systems. Personally...I let both of them run with the start group.

Thanks to all for the help. I have gotten rid of some pesky startup programs and plan to have more of a look around.
