hello.i try b as specific as i can but im totally blonde wiv computers.
basically i was given a pc wiv win 2000pro on n wanted xp.
not realisin (dunno if it makes a difference) but i got an xp home s.p 2 disc was told by sum1 to stick disc in n away u go its not difficult so away i went.
dunno if this is normal or not but i got 2 hard drives c and d.
2000 is on c and now xp is on d.
as u lot prob know on boot up/start up ive now got a choice of 2000 or xp.
i thought ok thats fine. i use xp for internet ( installed my wireless adapter thing onto d drive fine) and as we all do, do sum downloading but no media players work no sound comes outta my poor speakers wot so ever.
ive gone to help files etc n as uve prob guessed unless im wrong that all my media sound cardy bits n drivers n programs that i need to play music etc is all on c drive.
plz can sum1 help me sort this out as the last person i asked was as much help as a chocolate teapot lol... they told me to install another lot of xp onto my c drive n itll all work fine but ive still no music on xp on my c drive only on 2000... so now ive got windows 2000 pro AND xp on c drive and another xp which is the 1 i use on d drive.

please help. i wanna c if i can sort it with ur help instead of being well overcharged at a pc repair shop.

Ugh, sounds like you're in a bad spot and may need professional help, but here's what needs to happen.

First, if you're happy with multiple OS's on your machine then fine, but I would guess you simply want XP. If that's the case, then you need to delete the two XP installs you have now and do an UPGRADE of the 2k install.

Once you have the OS's in order, you need to identify your sound card and download the appropiate drivers form the manufactures website. Once installed your sound will probably work.

If these sound like things you are comfortable trying, let me know and I'll give you some more detailed instrucytions.
