Used Space On Itunes Too High

someone please help

on itunes in "scotty's Ipod" it says i used 10.77 GB but right under that it says 1412 songs, 4.2 days, 6.26 GB

What's wrong??

It is ultimately down to the codec (mp3/aac) and the bitrate (kbps) of the songs, if you lower the bitrate the size comes down.
