I have the new video ipod and the latest version of itunes and i understand how to get itunes videos onto it but i was wondering if you can put videos downloaded from the web onto the ipod. And if so, how?

Yes you can put other videos on it other than the ones downloaded from itunes.
You will however probably need to convert them to the mpeg4 format though before transferring them.
Search google for videora ipod converter. That will convert whatever video you want to put on your ipod for you.

Videora Ipod Converter is terrible in my opinion. 1/2 the time the audio doesn't sync. And it takes hours. I use PQ DVD to IPOD converter. That will convert DVD's and Other kinds of video files. It is simple to use and takes about 20-30 minutes per 3 hour movie. The only downside is it cost 35 dollars.
