confused about firewall

I have zonealarms running on my comp i find it very confusing it always asking me question that i dont understand it driving me crazy dont no if im blocking important programs or not
at present i carnt download windows updates i think this is because i have block it by mistake
also i have read a few reviews about zone alarms and none were good in fct could not find any good one

I have a copy of norton security is this better than zonealarms???

appreciate any help

I much prefer ZA over Norton, Panda or Mcafee.

I think you will find ZA alot easier than Norton and in my opinion it is less buggy.

With all firewalls you need to allow or block access to programs and after time you will learn what is needed and what isn't.

The popup alerts from Zone Alarm contain the option to check the box for "Do not show me this again."

Every time you allow a program, also check that box. Then it will only alert you when something you have not already allowed tries to get online.

Double click on the Zone Alarm icon in the Notification Area (around the time display) to open the ZA "Control Panel." Find the "Programs" area where you can unblock those things you previously blocked. Among them is whatever Microsoft needs to communicate with your computer and send updates.

ok i will stick with zone alarm is there away to rest zonealarms so i can start from scratch??

i no much more now and i will be able to allow the right things?

In the programs list click the top program, scroll to the bottom, click the bottom program and then press delete.

It will delete all programs from the list and when programs try to access the net you will be prompted.

thank u i didnt no that menu was there it is v helpfull i jus remove unwanted thing and put ask on everything else

is there any good free resgistry cleaners all i download only fix limited amount of erros and i have plenty tto fix

I personally perfered nortons but it will also popup stuff until you get it trained.
