Beans.ocx

My son (who is into Fantasy Football) just hit me with the same problem wiskers had back in August but he didn't post back to say if the uninstall/reinstall cured his problem which is an invalid page fault caused by beans.ocx. The reccommended fix was to do an uninstall/reinstall of IE rather than a "Fix". Does anyone have any further knowledge concerning this? I suggested my son upgrade (?) IE 5.5 to IE 6.0, but I haven't heard from him yet. Any help will be greatly appreciated, since every time he tries to "check his teams" he gets the fault and IE quits. As far as I know, that's the only time he gets the fault. Sorry I don't have better info for you. (Running WinME)

Hi Samiam - that error message indicates that his browser is having a problem with a control on that page. You could suggest that he tries a repair however an upgrade (choosing the default install option) might be the answer.

Am now in OK City on my son's computer, and the "Beans" problem seems to have corrected itself. After tinkering with his system, he seems to have only one small problem left--minor, but annoying:

When typing anything in any sort of form (Google searches, etc) there is a few seconds delay between the time any character is typed in and the time it appears on the screen. This doesn't happen in Notepad--the characters appear immediately as they are typed. Once the characters first appear on internet forms, they then appear immediately as typed.

Also, it didn't happen when typing in this description of the problem. I've noticed he has a American Megatrends 1995 Bios date. Could this be part of the cause?

Sorry about the lack of complete info concerning his system, but I really don't know all the components. IE 6, WinME, DSL may be pertinent.

Samian - you could also look for file corruption and an incorrect entry in the registry. Have a look at this article by microsoft Delayed Response When Editing Internet Explorer Forms and Outlook Express May Take a Long Time to Start.

Thanks a million for the response. I've returned home as I write this, but I've emailed the url relating to my son's problem to him and hopefully he can take care of it. If/when he gets it fixed, I'll post his reply here. Thanks again!
