I've suddenly lost access to both my CD roms. Nothing new was installed, nothing was moved, but I'm suddenly getting an error message. Help!
I have a gateway peformance 500 with 160 mb ram. Let me know what other info you need.
Thanks!
Jeff

hi
code 31 means no drivers installed, maybe you should try re-installing the drivers.

But how does this spontaneously occur? I've had this computer for years using the same cd roms and it just now decides that it doesn't have drivers? Would some other program cause the drivers to vanish?
Should I uninstall the devices in the device manager and re-install them?
Thanks for your help. :)

I have seen reports that Norton AV and Norton Internet Security can casue issues like that. There is also a registry value that sometimes gets bonky due to Norton that can make a drive just vanish. You could try uninstalling from device manager it won't hurt your computer but I'll see if I can dig up that registry value and post it in here.

I had the same thing. Main reason I no longer use EZ CD Creator!
Here's the fix (http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;%5BLN%5D;q314060) - hope you don't mind poking in the registry for a bit.

Thanks for that Zip I couldn't for the life of me remember what app caused it besides Norton and what reg keys to fix. You rock dude!

Well, as I said I had the same problem - but in my case, it wouldn't go away. I didn't try to remove EZCD Creator, either; I think I was doing an upgrade from one version to the next. Every time I'd remove the Upper & Lower filters from the registry, a reboot would bring 'em back - and my drives would disappear.
In my case, dumping EZCDC for Nero was the right move.

Well, the bad thing is that I don't have the easy cd creator, I have nero, and have had it for a long time. I haven't uninstalled it either. The last few things that have happened on that machine is that I had the Avast anti-virus auto update and there was a windows update that took place. Other than that, nothing has been installed or uninstalled.
Also, I uninstalled the scsi-raid device that came up as being driverless in the device manager and I got a little pop-up that said I have removed a device without turning it off and this was the device: root/legacy_AICBMSD/0000.
does this help?
Thanks for all your help. :)
