Well, All Going Fine, Windows 98 installs, but after i put in the product key and the comp starts to boot up then add additiuonal settings, it says please insert windows 98se into cd rom and theres a bunch of filed that try to get installed but the computer cant find em on the cd, since i dont have the 98se i only have 98 i figured ill skip all the files and hope for the best then try to fix em, anywho when i did that my monitor was screwey (no monitor drivers i think) in my computer or anythin else there wasnt even a cd rom drive listed(e drive) my ethernet card isnt being recognized either so i reformatted the computer and put windows 98 back on, im now at the part where its saying cannot find files on win98se again and i left it there to see if anybody knew any solutions for this problem? do i need the win98se disk? cause a few friends of mine used this 98 disk before me and they dont have any problems, id just put xp on it but its only a 2 gig harddrive and it wont take it, please?! anyone?!

Are you using the product key for Win98 and not the Win98SE? You have to use the product key of the windows version that you are using.

Well I had this same problem when taking a hard drive from another comuter and then putting it in mine so the computer itself had 2 OS's. What I did was format the other hard drive in MS-DOS in Safemode and then the problem was fixed. However you might have to start up in MS-Dos to do that and be using another drive to format the C:/ drive.

Did you use a 98SE boot disk? If so get a Win98 boot disk and fdisk/mbr and format again. Somehow it sounds like you used something with SE.
