Everytime I go to websites I click on the back button to go somewhere else if it isn't what I'm looking for but, everyonce in awhile, I'll hit a site that if I click back it'll not go back a page instead it'll just refresh the original. Anything out therer to stop this crap?

HTJ log in the Cyber Safety forum would be my first suggestion.

Sorry for giving that suggestion but it does seem like some sort of malware.

I go to sites where that happens... I find if I click twice quickly it will go back.

That seems like a site that has an automatic redirect/forward to a page.

Yes I know. The solution is to quickly click to go back two pages, so you bypass the page with the redirect.

That's just a temporary fix... I was wondering if there's fix that'll stop it from happening ever again. Like a plugin or something. Sometimes, I have to X out the window and reload again. *sigh* *Continues to look*

For an example

Goto to this page
http://www.pa.msu.edu/services/computing/faq/auto-redirect.html
click the Example link

You will find that after a few seconds you are redirected.
If you click the back button once you are returned to the previous page, but will soon be forwarded again.

If you click the back button twice you will bypass the redirect and return to the original page.

Vercades, I still recommend a HTJ log in the Cyber Safety forum.

I think its an added feature of the web site in question. I've been to sites that do this also. Click on the v (down arrow) next to the back button. This will show a list of all back pages. If the page you are viewing is listed there then clicking on the back button will only refresh the page as you are going back to the same page. Just click on which page you want to go back to and be done with it.

I have yet to hear of a way to keep sites from doing this. Would love to hear of one.

There are many sites that will not, under any circumstances, allow you to back space out of it. At times, you can't even close out of it. There's no fix. Just plain arrogance on the programmers delight list. Just go to favorites and bring up another web page and then use history to try and go back to where you intended to be.
Yeah, I know, I'm a big help.;)

if its some websites, it is because the page is inside of a frame.

Sandlapper's correct...using the drop-down list next to the Back button is the only way out of some of those "trap" web sites. It is a feature of the site itself and irritates everybody yet web developers continue to use it.

As renegade pointed out, it's similar to the ones that contain links to other sites yet clicking on a link only changes one frame. The original site's frames with their ads and self-promotion remain displayed. Also a feature of the site, also irritating and also continuing to be used.
