Is it possible to burn music onto a blank dvd disc and have it play in the home cd player or car?

While DVD players can (usually) play CDs, the reverse isn't true. You'll need a DVD player to play DVDs no matter how the DVDs were made.

Burn it to a CD. You will need to know what files your car player supports.. MP3 etc.

Some older CD players also won't play recorded CDs.
