Modem waits for dial tone
Trying to play Modem to modem in Red Alert, can't dial it says it's cant detect a dial tone, answering works ok though. Internet and Win games work fine (I tried Starcraft it dials alright). It used to work but hasn't since the last time I reinstalled the drivers for it. Have unchecked "Wait for dial tone before dialing" option in both Modem properties and Internet settings, and enabled MSDOS support in Modem properties. Any other options I could change? I'm pretty sure it's software, it's done this before but I was able to fix it just by unchecking those options. My modem is a Conexant HCF V90 56K Data Fax PCI Modem, the drivers are fine.

Sounds like you need to reinstall the drivers. Sometimes when you query a modem it will respond fine with the wrong drivers installed.
Go into the device manager and Uninstall your modem. Then use the Add New Hardware manager in the control panel to add a new modem. Download drivers for your modem here. Driverguide, Conexant Modem |

The drivers should be fine they are the ones that came with my comp. After all they did use to work fine. It's just that even with the exact same setup that I used to have my modem just isn't acting the same anymore after my last driver re-install. (it tends to wait longer before dialling than it used to). But I will try fresher drivers anyway.
