When I turned on my computer it came up in safemode (windows 98).
Checked cookies/temp files to find step sons name preceding everything (name@)!!
Can you tell me what he did and how I can get rid of him?
Don't get it, he just got his own computer (xpro) and now he has to mess with mine?
I would really appreciate any help as I am quite computer illiterate.
Thanks,
Confused Mom

Sorry, his name precedes everything in cookies/temp int files.
examples:
John@cybertechhelp.com
John@microsoft
Also I see his name in the start menu at the: log off John
When I logged off John I noticed the cookies etc then showed: anyuser@
Not sure if this helps....

The username of a cookie is whomever is logged in. For instance if the account John is logged in the cookie file name will be john@whatever domain. The exception would be a non-logged on user of Win9X....in which case the cookie file name will be anyuser@whatever domain.
Evidently, "John" used your computer and browsed the internet for something or other.

This is all new, and has never shown before (john@whatever domain)
As I stated my computer came up in safemode (also new). He has obviously gone on mine and messed with it.
I want to get him off my computer as he has his own and does not need to be on mine.
I feel invaded and want to delete him. Any suggestions?

There are things you can do.
Put a password protection login.
Talk to him and, tell him to keep his hands off; give him your's and take his.
Talk to Dad!There maybe more here then meets the eye?
Hope this maybe of some help?
