Random standby
Hello
My Windows 98 Pentium I machine suddenly started going into standby lately for no reason. I checked the power management settings and every thing is set to never turn off. The standby happens about every 15 minutes and it's annoying because it disconnects me from the internet every time. About a week ago I tried some new RAM in it which was incompatible and I resetted the CMOS settings. I put the old RAM back in and it has been working fine without random standbys for a few days at least. I installed a game yesterday just before the standbys started happening. (Warpath 21st Century) Does anyone know if these changes are related? Is there any way to stop my system from going to standby? Thanks in advance.

Is it a desktop or laptop? battery causes that in laptops
You could try un-installing the game and see if it's still happens The drivers might need updating for your graphic card

It's a desktop computer. I got rid of the game but that didn't seem to help. I've been trying to get into the BIOS but it's proving very difficult. I've had the same graphics drivers for quite a while without any problems.
I forgot to mention that once it goes to standby, it comes back out of it to the desktop after about 30 seconds. Also while it's in standby, the hard drive shuts off and comes back on once it leaves standby.

By any chance have you got another monitor you can try on the same pc and see if it does it with a different monitor?
Only thing I could find after the usual check power settings and BIOS was power supply going bad or monitor going bad.
