Content IE5 should I remove it?

This file contains temporary lnternet files but when I attempted to removeit,I was warned this file contains System files so windows and other applications may not work
I thought all temp files were safe to get rid of.I have 600mb of these.

use the disk clean up utility or delete temp files under tools>>internet options? I believe IE needs the content folder to write these files to.

Thanks a lot ,it is of great help,it explains why deleting temp files under clean up doesn,t actually do that,as I've realised.
