Re-install Windows 98

Hello all,

When I turn my system on it instantly say "I MUST RE-INSTALL WINDOWS". How do you restart your system in the "safe mode" and how do you re-install windows 98 if it came pre-installed in your system when it was purchased?

Thanks for your help.

If you got a recovery cd with your system then Windows is prolly on that or it may actually be on your hard drive.

If you just started getting this error try a restore first. As your pc is booting tap on F8 until you hear a beep and it should bring up an option menu and one of the options will be command prompt only. Choose that and at the prompt type in scanreg/restore and pick a date when it was ok.

To see if win98 is on your hard drive.

type cd win98 from the C:\> prompt; The setup program is, inventively, called SETUP.EXE, so just typing "setup" will run it.
