Just watching the snooker over here in the UK... a situation occured where a miss was called (sorry non snooker fans) balls had to be replaced in the exact position as they were before a "miss" shot... and clearly were not. This was shown in replays.
Why ohh why can Video evidence not be used instead of a referees judgement???
Same goes for football etc.
Cameras from all angles have proved referees decisions to be wrong in many cases... and still the decision stands??????
Must be wrong surely!!!
(not a big sports fan but does love me snooker)
Think this was discussed some time ago... World Cup if I remember rightly!

Its also used in 'American' football and I think they actually do a pretty good job of using. A team has to challenge a ref's call and if the call is clearly wrong, its corrected. Otherwise, the team loses a time out. This keeps the teams from constantly challenging the call's, but gives them a chance to correct a blown call.

It's used in rygbi and does help.
Only thing is it's only the professional outfits that benefit from it.
The likes of the lower leagues don't benefit from it as they can't afford to clean the toilets in their club houses let alone have cameras.

It is wrong, and stop calling me Shirley.
Yep, if you are playing for high stakes (like getting knocked out of a major competition or being relegated from your league etc) it should most definitely be allowed.
The referees decision is final, but it should be seen as a refereeing team decision. As Beanie ponts out, the "fourth man" in god's own game and cricket has proved invaluable over the last few years.
I like the NFL idea to prevent frivilous calls.

In Snooker, don't you just wait until the other guy turns his back and move the balls anyway?

In Snooker, don't you just wait until the other guy turns his back and move the balls anyway?I thought the idea was to get the opposition drunk enough so you wouldn't have to ;)

American football has about 20 camera's so a player is up close and personal when he picks his nose. They tried without instant replay at one time and chaos broke out. One human on one play just can not see all the angles that the camera's can. There are other ref's on the field but all cover different things. Baseball, basketball, marbles have instant replay. I even have instant replay in my bedroom. Never can tell when I may foul.:D
I cut my teeth on snooker but now don't have the patience anymore. I like fast money games like 9 or 6 ball.
