I'm Hoping....

This is in the right forum!!!

I have just discovered that I do have MS Paint on this box in front of me (OS, XP). Anyway's, I decided to have a go at changing the colours to some buttons using the "Fill With Colour" feature, it takes a whle to do, but I get's there in the end.

However, after saving one half done button, that I was changing the colour from blue to black (the buttons have text and little images within them, that's why I just want to change the colours), then opening up the button again, in Paint, when I try to select black as the "Fill With Colour", it show's up being a dark blue, and I cannot seem to get black?

Any idea's as to how to stop this happening, and keep black as showing?

TIA

Dave.

Not sure what you mean there. Are you using the fill tool? You have black selected right??

Yes and yes, when I first started using the fill tool, I had the black colour working fine, black being the top left colour, on the colour bar, but after saving, then trying to do some more filling, the black just started showing as a dark blue, and even after trying several times (closing and opening the program), if I click on the top left colour in the colour bar, it still shows as a dark blue when editing the button!!!

One of two things:
1) have a younger kid who's parents have not even the slightest bit of color blindness and have him see if the box you are clicking on really is dark blue

2)What type of file are you saving it as?
3) Try reinstalling paint.

LOL, well let me just say this, I ain't colour blind yet!!

I spent some more time time working on these here buttons last night, managed to change the colours in a few more last night, but found the colours did change again, despite choosing black, I got a dark green, a dark red, and the blue that I'd mentioned before, as well as actually having the black colour work at times!!!

I was able to fix them all, by using Gif Works, at least they were all solid colours, so Gif Works was able to do this for me!!!

Paint is an extremely basic program.
I know you have better software to play around with

Fireworks is pretty cool for button generation btw. You can download a trial version from macromedia's website.

Edited by Moderator to say, sorry Jethro, but here at CTH we don't allow such kind of posting that you had added here!!

Although i've never used Irfranview, I know you yourself have recommended it before.

It may be a time to use it
