Question Okay newbie networking setup question
Have one PC running Win 2k professional and am just in the process of picking out another one which will also run Wink2k professional.

What l want to be able to down is link them pair to pair to share drives etc, apparent not a huge problem, set cable connection and set drives to share sort of thing.

Now my question is regards use of a single modem. Do l need to install a hub to hang the modem off, or can l also share the modem between the rigs.

You can share the modem between both computers using Internet Connection Sharing (ICS). Then setup dial on demand (if you're talking 56k or ISDN)

I think what you want to know is this:
You will want a router which you will plug the modem and the 2 computers into.
