What's happening to my replies??
Hi All,
I'm in a bit of a quandry. I have replied to two different members with problems and in both the replys are not visable when one checks the trhead?? The box shows my reply and the post is bumped up but the reply is not shown by clicking on the thread. In both cases where I replied, I clicked the submit button and received the thank you. After the thank you I was forwarded to my reply and it was apparently there I could see it, as well as the original post???. I left the foum and went to the other forums that I monitor, and returned to the CTH forum. Again I saw that there was the reply indicated in the box and it showed that I WAS THE LAST POSTER When the thread was opened, I could not see my reply - What am I doing wrong? even refresshing did not display my reply, only the original thread posting:grit: :grit: I Posted a private message to a board Monitor, but it seems that it has happened only on this CTH forum. Any one else having any similar experiences?? I posted two replies to this original thread and neither are shown when the thread is opened, however, wheh I post the reply (s) the thread and replies ia shown I really don't know what is going on:grit:

Try an Alt-refresh, that will reload from the server not your cache

Let's try a reply again,again
This is a second or third time I have tried to reply. None have been shown when I select the thread??? Beginning to wonder what is goin on?
Oh well hope somebody else posts a suggestion, but if I can't see the replys more than likely others can't either. This is really frustrating as everything goed as expected wth the thanks for the reply, and I get conducted to the post and I can see the original and it looks like it is attached to the thread as the oroginal post is there, along with the replys?? But when I go back to the main board and click on the thread, my replys are not seen???? Very strange and very frustrating.

Thanks Steve caught your post when I tried the last reply - Hope this gets on the thread even if I can't see it. Believe me this is really funny as I have never had this happen before and I don't know what caused it.
Will try the alt refresh and see what that does.

Tried the alt refresh, nada can't figgure this out. I can post an original thread but not reply or edit???? and be able to see it if I bring up the thread. I can see the replys if I reply and get conducted to the reply in the thread. In this case this thread but as soon as I go back to the main page and reresh I can only see the original post??

Brian, I'm moving this to the Internet Forum.
This is one of two things - your browser cache OR (more likely) YOUR ISP is using a Proxy cache of pages and are not updating. You're on a dial-up right?

Hi smurfy and thanks for moving this to another forum. Just some further info though, the problem lies with my IE 5.5 SR-2. what happened I am not sure. I have a gohst of the c drive that I can replace but I am not sure that this would fix the problem. If so that may be the best approach. If I knew what the problem was and it could be fixed by other means I would prefer this route.
The funny thing - if I access the site using Netscape I can see all the posts, so something is wacky with my IE 5.5-SR2. It happened about 2 days ago so perhaps a reg restore could fix it??? I also have system snaps from before the problem, (Config Safe) don't know if this will fix the problem I know I would have to reinstall the netscape with any of the possibilities as I only installed it on a hunch.just now. If someone has any suggestions on how to fix the problem with IE I would sure appreciate it as Netscape although good has a certain unfamilarity as I have always used IE for browsing. Thanks for any help on this - maybe someone has experienced similar problems, I Know I haven't. I have had other things like not being able to access links, interferance by pop-up stopper (which I no longer use) and some other things with IE 6.0 and I thought 5.5 was better suited to my puter. It has not crapped out since installed and 6.0 went bye bye. Sure would like to use IE - need some guidence. I have book marked this site so I can return to the post with Netscape in the interim.

You could try repairing 5.5 borwser by clicking
Start\Programs\Accessories\System Tools\System Information. In System Information click the Tools tab and select Internet Explorer Repair Tool. |

Hi gstone4911,
Tried that right out of the bag, before installing Netscape I will keep it so I can at least see the replys to my post. Apparently there is something else that has happened that the fix does not fix. I wondered if some of the temp files I deleted might have caused the problem? But I reinstalled them and all the app log files I deleted, from the recycle bin and did not change a thing. So something else is the problem maybe I should run sfc and see what it finds? maybe a system file has become corrupted that IE needs to work properly? My thanks for the suggestion, but I am at a loss, I have tried all the easy ways to fix IE but to no avail. I may have overlooked something though. Masybe I should use the internet tools option to (I think) restore ie to the original configuration, haven't tried that yet but I would think that the repair I did would have done the same thing-- one thing for sure - More later. Thanks for your suggestion.

If you look on your C: drive there should be a folder named
Windows Update Setup Files Open it and double click the ie5setup.exe This will reinstall 5.5SP2 You will have to be online, not sure but this might take as long as the original install. I know that can sometimes take a while on a dialup connection. It's up to you. |

found a cure
Well after all the messing around with this problem I went to tools/internet optons and reset the defaults and guess what? Everything is back to normal - go figure??? I did not change anything in the first place? I really do not know how or why the defaults got changed? Really would like to know what happened. Oh well this seemed to fix the problem.
Thanks to all for patients with one who muddles thru problems and for the suggestions - much appreciated, learned something I think ![]() :bouncy:
