ie connects, others dont...:(

first post here, and hopefully my last :x
(not that computer savvy D:)

the other day my computer froze, nothing strange, just a regular occurence because i had too many apps open, so i rebooted and all of a sudden none of my programs could connect to the internet, only internet explorer.
firefox, msn, irc, azeurus, symantec, etc they all say im not connected
ive tried rebooting the pc, and modem several times
any help is appreciated :)

Sounds like less of a networking problem than a general computer problem. I would first scan for spyware or virus related activity. Maybe even make a post in the Cyber Safety forum here at CTH asking for help with that. Once the system is deemed clean then I would start looking into firewalls blocking app's or a fault in the startups. If having a few app's open causes the computer to crash either that computer needs a good cleaning out or you have outgrown that computer and might want to think about an upgrade.
