hi guys , i bought a new Netcore 4 port Cable/Dsl Broadband Router. I have two computer at home and there is no network between them. I know how to physical setup of my router eg, where and how to plug the wires , but i dont know how to configure it. I want internet access in both my computer.
I tried to Configure the router by going to the a website and it was 192.168.1.1 something. After that there was WAN , LAN , Routing , Nat options . I dont know how to deal with these option . The difficult part is ROUTING SECTION. because in this section they asked to enter other computer infromation.
So plz help me in configuring my router setting so that i can have internet access on my both computers.

Hi and welcome to CTH,

First let me say that I edited your email address as listing it in an open public forum is just asking for spam. Now on the your router issue. It sounds to me like you are able to log into the setup area of the router so thats a good thing. Depending on what type of connection you have ie "cable, dsl, ect" will determin the type of settings you will need to use. Also routers are the same but each make, modle, and ver all look a little different. If you can post back with what type connection you have it would help us to better tell you what basic settings would be best for you.

Well thats great to know the kind of router you have but we need to know exactly what type of internet service you have. The reeason for this is because the way you would cofig the router depends on the type service you have. One example is in connection type for cable it would most likely be "obtain ip auto" or "dhcp" and for dsl its more than likely going to be "PPPoE" and you would have to enter a name and passwrod. Other settings would be differnt as well such as MTU and MAC address clone options. So that bit of info is very important.

ok, i have dsl service. And in WAN setting , I CHOSED Dynamic IP Setting.
iS THIS INFORMATION ENOUGH, IF NOT PLZ ASK ME AGAIN.

I think i made mistake in this part.

4.4 Routing
If the Router is connected to more than one network, it may be necessary to set up a static route between them. A static route is a pre-determined pathway that network information must travel to reach a specific host or network.

Figure 4-11

l Type / Target / Mask / Gateway: Fill in these fields required by this Static Routing function.

l Add: Click this button to add a new static routing. When you click this button, the next figure appears.

l Current Routing Table: This display shows the valid routing paths in Broadband Router. User can view the information about current routing paths

Fill in the all of the setting to be added and then click "Add". Then this Special Application setting will be added into the "Current Routing Table" below.

If you want to remove some Special Application settings from the " Current Routing Table ", select the Special Application settings you want to remove in the table and then click "Delete ".

When finished making your changes on this screen, click the Save button to save these changes

Ok now i am going to tell u what was in the WAN setup. In wan setup, there was three options : Dynamic ip, PPPoE, STATIC IP. i CHOSED DYNAMIC IP. aFTER THAT I ALSO CHOOSED "You can check the “Physical Address Clone” checkbox to copy the MAC Address of your PC to be the MAC address of this device" .

Ok as you say the connection type is dsl you should try this in the routers setup area:

ok, i have dsl service. And in WAN setting , I CHOSED Dynamic IP Setting.
iS THIS INFORMATION ENOUGH, IF NOT PLZ ASK ME AGAIN.

Change from Dynamic IP settings to PPPoE and fill in the rest of the info.

You don't need to mess with the routing section if you have then just del all the info you imput there and disable it. Start there and post back if you have any problems.
