I've got a small (2 comps.) setup here with one desktop and one laptop each in a different office. I'm using a Linksys 802.11B router in between them on sbc dsl. When they are both hardwired, they work fine. I've been trying to get the wireless card to work on the HP laptop (running XP), but all that I get is that there is great connection to the source, but the internet is unavailable, or cannot connect to the internet. I had it working awhile back(maybe a year ago), but haven't been able to get it back up. I tried to uninstall it to reinstall it but it never goes away! It is set to detect IP addresses automaticaly and so on. I'm wondering what I'm missing here. I must be forgetting something.

Hi,
Make sure the computer that the Internet connection runs through allows the connection to be shared. Then run your new network connection wizard again to make sure you have a connection via the other pc to the Internet. Also make sure the Internet computers MS Firewall is off.

The way this is set up is from the dsl modem to the router then each computer has an ethernet cable from the back of the router. What we can't get to work is his laptop with the card instead of the cable. When it is on the cable it works fine. The laptop see's the card and it says that is getting 100% signal, but it can't connect to the internet. The card is enabled in the device manager, but I'm not sure of it's position on the connections screen. Again it's running XP home. Thanks for the help!!
