I have a linksys router connected to my home PC and I have complete internet connection and have no problems with the home pc. I also have a laptop with a built in wireless card that is connected to the same network that my PC is connected to.

When I turn my laptop on I get 100% signal strength from the router, but when I click on internet explorer, I am not able to get to any sites, and the "the page cannot be displayed" page comes up no matter what site i try to access.

this is getting very frustrating and I cannot figure out what is going on.

One thing that I have noticed is that when I go into my network connections and highlight my wireless connection, in the bottom left of the screen it gives the details of this connection and it reads as follows........

IP address: 0.0.0.0
subnet mask: 0.0.0.0
assigned by DHPC

Access point
Network: linksys
Encryption: enabled
Signal Strength: Excellent

COuld anyone please help me with this problem????????

what brand/model is the laptop?

If the laptop isn't getting an IP address, go to 192.168.1.1, put in the required information, navigate to wireless. Here are the setting for my router (WRT54G):

Wireless network mode: mixed
network name: linksys
channel: 6
SSID: enabled
security mode: WPA pre-shared key
WPA algorithms: TKIP
Group key renewal: 3600 seconds
MAC filter: off

go from there..it works for us.
