Im currently on a windows laptop with XP, connected to cable internet through a wall jack (non wireless internet). in this same office is a fairly new Apple computer, also connected to the internet, with a printer attached. How can I access this printer? How can I print from this laptop without connecting the actual printer to the computer? Is it possible? Do I need to network the computers, or should I be able to access the printer because we share the same internet connection? Thanks, this is stumping us all

How are the two machines sharing the internet connection? Who set up the internet connections? As Mugsy said you need to share the printer from the apple and the two machines need to be networked somehow. THough if they are sharing an internet connection, they are most likely already on the same network.

BTW polomajik - Welcome to CTH. Hopefully we can help work this out for you.

Mac guy here....

How is the PRINTER connected? Is it an ethernet connection, USB, adb ? What OS is the Mac running?

The standard answer is to go to System Preferences > Print & Fax with Mc OSX. Click the "Sharing" option at the top of the window and check the printers you want to share. That's IF the printer is only connected to the Mac. If the printer is connected to the ethernet network, the PC should see the printer on the network just like any other device.
