Computer keep Freezing

Hi,All

My mate has a computer problem everytime she uses her computer for some reason it keeps freezing up or not responding now how can i fix this another thing is that how can she prevent it freezeing up? another thing is i tried to get her to do a defrag since it been awhile since he did 1 or not but it froze so how can she stop the freezeing up or wat can she do to make the computer not freeze her operating system it windows me
