Are these 3 different mates' computers?
one on 95
one on 98
one in ME with a bit more info

With the amount of information we have to go on, you are not going to get many useful answers.

That's funny. Well on all three do the usual first. Run anti-virus, run spyware removal software, defrag in safe mode, delete temp files.

Now 2 moderators have corrected me with questions doubting my answers.

this will be my last post edit this post to save credibility as you wish

Helmstar, just how would XP fixes help a slow Win95 system, on what does the system run . the file system
if the file system gets corrupted what does the computer do run slow
some exampels witch are not related to this topic but as a example to the point that im bringing across

viruses damage / corrupt files systems
sometimes temporary folders take a bit more space then they should
divers start missing there .DLL 's and dont show it .
but the computer starts running slow
what does defragment a system do , Imho it puts the "files back in order "
witch speeds up the processes , witch speeds up the computer.

the arcticle i posten or the link is slow windows 95 a 98 systems in general
it posts a link to the Q811493 on the microsoft site about a well know problem of the buffers being overrun with data. making the computer slow
it explains that what you have running in the background could clog up the system as well and could fix the problem

since the discription of the problem was narrow the answer will be in general this would speed up the computer a bit .

moderators thanks for the unwelcome stay .
and

william232 can only hope that this helped as my intension was
but since my "short " link kind of answers seem to bother the moderators i can help you mail me at my email and ill attempt to help you futher.
but as far as i have seen these guys in here know there stuff well so they can also help you .

--- helmstar out --- it never hurt so mutch to help

Perhaps you need to click on your own link and read the page at the Windows XP forum at annoyances.org which had absolutely nothing to do with slow win9x systems.
Q811493 again - Windows XP specific.

Again, as I said in my messages to you earlier today, I'm sorry if you feel unwelcome, however at this forum, we pride ourselves on giving correct, relevant replies and it's the job of the moderating staff to identify and correct anything that fails to meet that standard.
