View Full Version : Constant Freezing

I built this computer myself, which could be part of the problem. Here are the specs:

Motherboard: Epox EP-8kta+
Ram: 256 Generic Ram
Video Card: GeForce 4 4600
Lan Card: 3com 10/100
On Board Sound(generic)

Ever since I built this computer I have always had issues with freezing. I am pretty sure that its not because of the temp, but is there a way to check that. If in fact its not that, is there a way to check if I have a bad board, or maybe just a hardwar conflict. The freezing occurs when I play graphically intense games...pretty much anything. But also when I am doing random things like AOL Instant Messanger. Is there a way I can prevent the freezing...I realize this is a large question but also specific. ANY advice you could give would be increadibly helpful. Thanks

make sure the geoforce has it's own irq, (they are very unstable when sharing irq #'s ) you will get freezing, and other problems

I'd try a 350+ watt power supply. More, or different, RAM wouldn't hurt either.
