View Full Version : Watermarks In Forum Posts

I'd like to add one or more beer glasses into posts at my forum, so's they look like little watermarks on the bottom right of each post.

Here's three glasses that I'd like at least one to be used, but if possible I'd like to especially use "Beer Glass 1"...

Beer Glass 1 (http://s94031368.onlinehome.us/pictures/beer1.jpg)

Beer Glass 2 (http://s94031368.onlinehome.us/pictures/beer2.jpg)

Beer Glass 3 (http://s94031368.onlinehome.us/pictures/beer3.jpg)

At my forum, the posts background colour is a dark green (#006600), if possible, I'd like the colour of the glasses to blend into the background colour.

I realize that the above images are large and would have to be resized, I just wanted to have them showing so's anyone can see them properly.

Any help would be muchly appreciated. :)

Rather simplistic yes, but... (http://home.comcast.net/~dashwood95/Hotlink/beer/1.html)

1st - Your image
2nd - Background to match yours and edges touched up. Nothing too fancy since it's going to be tiny.
3rd - Due to the fact that your original is taller than it is wide I couldn't do a perfect 40 by 40 which your site seemed to have.

I was going to just make it a gif, but you lose a lot of your colors when you drop down to 256 colors (which you have to for the gif) so you'd have lost all the detail on the glass.

Is this like what you want?

Thanks for helping here, Dashie. :)

I'm finding it a little difficult to explain what I'd like, you know if/when you open your computer Search (Start/Search/Files Or Folders), at the bottom right is a magnifying glass, that's kinda blended into the colour of that window, so in a way it doesn't "stand out" too much, but you know it's there.

I'm thinking that if something like the one's you've created were used, they'd stand out too much, and it'd get quite annoying to see. I was thinking more on the lines of "lighter" greens being used, which would "blend" in nicer. :)

Well the background color can be changed. I guess I misread you. I thought you wanted "006600". Got an example of the color you want?

Maybe something like #009900 or #00AA00. :)

Ok so we talking something like this? (http://home.comcast.net/~dashwood95/Hotlink/beer/1.html)

Oh yes. And note that the web site was set to the bkgd first mentioned, so yeah you can't tell as well. I could make it white or some other color if you like.

Thanks Dashie. :)

It's getting late here right now, but after work tomorrow I'll give these a try at the forum, and see how they look.

Dashie, I haven't forgotten this, I'm just having trouble trying to add it to my forum posts. :(

My 2 cents (http://img153.imageshack.us/img153/3793/beer3vf.jpg) (an artist I aint).

I understand lufbra bud.

Oracle I'm no artist either, but your image shows what I was talking about when you lose colors. It takes away the detail of the 3D effect on the glass. The green is a good color though. Seems brighter.

I must say I do like the effect, Oracle. I was kinda thinking that if the whole glass could be some kind of green, it'd look more like a watermark.

I still haven't figured out how to add the images, I may have to wait untill at least Thursday (my day off), and then maybe post around the forum software forums, asking how it's done. :)

I'm guessing you'd have to hack the PHP code, and in the spot where it loops the output of all the posts, have it display the watermark at the bottom right of that box.
