when i try to start my computer it stops at the windows me screen!!

Hello melandiar, welcome to CTH. :happy:
Have you tried getting into safe mode? Restart the system then tap f8 and select safe mode option. If you can get to Windows desktop in safe mode, try restarting the system and see if it clears itself.
If you cannot get into safe mode... try booting with a bootdisk... at the
a:\> prompt type:
scanreg /restore (notice the space between scanreg /)
Choose a date when you booted correctly, see if that helps.

mabe before you try the boot disk, if you can get it into safe mode, try the system restore, see if you can't return you'r computer to a save point that was good:)
