Thinking your still browsing. I can't remember the names of them suckers. Keep you from getting disconnected.
Any suggestions on ones that actually work. (I've never used them cause they dont seem to work with AOL)

Dodge,
I believe you are referring to "pinger" programs. More and more ISPs are getting wise to this method of staying online and many pinger producers find themselves having to tailor-make a program for a specific ISP. One that works for MSN, will not work for AOL, etc. The ISP is now monitoring these "pings" for patterns or lack of changes. When a certain number of identical pings are sent...the ISP server deems it a pinger and disconnects you. Might even get a nasty letter about it.
Some new pingers use a mathematical formula that will transmit different patterns each time, in hopes of fooling the server. Some work...some don't.
One method has always been to have your Outlook Express set to check for email every five minutes. In most cases...pingers do violate your service agreement with your ISP. They could bounce you if they wish...

There are two things you can do.
Leave Outlook open (and running). Set to check for email
every 4 minutes.
or
Make a *.bat file that pings the server and the pop3 server. Then
set the scheduler to run the *.bat every 4 minutes.

Thanks you all. I've never used one, its for my dad. He says he had one that worked good, but lost it in his last format and can't remember the name of it.
Since I went to the satelite service, I dont get kicked off AOL anymore, unless my phone lines are screwed up....
I'll relay the message's from you all to him... Thanks

I use a program called "stay connected" and it seems to work fine for me and I have AOL.
