There are some programs in my computer that don't work at all (icq, Kodak software). These programs aren't listed on "Control Panel"-"install/deinstall" because we deleted something in the registry two weeks ago. Now we have changed Windows ME to Windows XP and these programs still don't appear.

I'd like to deinstall them properly, but it seems impossible to me. The only thing I could do is to make a search (start => search) of them and to delete everything related to them.

Could that be a good idea?. Is there a better way for me to get rid of them?. Please, don't tell me to download "Regcleaner", or something like that, because I did a big mistake some days ago deleting Office with it..

Thank you in advance!

You can try reinstalling the program then uninstalling it.

You other option is like you say. Use a program to clean the registry to remove references to the program.

Your only problem is that programs can install alot of files and registry entries and they are not always in the place you would expect, so you could still have a lot of files and reg entries left on your computer.
