i appreciate the help i recieved here. While it didn't solve my problem it did give me some great help. I have since solved my problem by simply using the back up registery in Windows tools. Luckily I had backed up my files before I used Windows update and it proved to be the perfect soultion to my needs. Thank-you for your help!

That's why it a great thing to have more than 5 reg backups.
You may have hindered/changed the update though. Many MS updates do strange things.
Better alternative to using just scanreg/restore and only 4 to choose is this...
Been using CABREST.BAT (http://members.cox.net/scotterpops/articles/regback/regback3.html) for years and has saved me many, many times.
Put cabrest.bat in your root directory of C:
Also edit scanreg.ini and change MaxBackupCopies=5 to 14.
0 to 14 will give you 15 days of good registry backups.
Do these reg restores in pure dos. Which ever day you choose can be brought back to that same day if need be.
Hope this helps.
