I had a Windows ME dropped off for me to fix after an unsucessful attempt to speed up the PC by someone who has a hard time with the start button. It is a legal copy, but unfortunatly some people don't ever think to actually SAVE their setup disks. At sometime last week they had decided to install XP which didn't go well. I have since deleted that partition with fdisk so only C:\ drive remains.I had used a 98 boot disk since I had yet to aquire an ME startup disk. All the command.com's in the system have been checked to insure they are Windows Millinium.....they are....C:\windows\command.....also in C:\Windows....but the black screen tells me it's the wrong interpreter. The msdos.sys points to the correct folder......I'm stumped...really stumped...nothing got changed within the C:\ tree except when I deleted the NTFS stuff like Microsoft said to do on one of their pages...after that....DOS....! Can anybody shed some light my way...?
