Can't view most internet vid clips

I used to have no trouble with viewing the clips, you know on web sites with funny clips and stuff.

But now they only show the windows media player logo and then stop, half a second it flashes and completes...no download, no playing. If the website hosts QT clips or real player clips they play for me (through the website) no problem.

This all came on all of a sudden recently, I don't think it is my firewall blocking windows media player because I have made sure of that.

I thought it might be because they are all windows media player 10 files, which I found to be odd, that they should all be changed like that, and also under some of the websites that host files it says "download win mediaplayer 9 here"......maybe I should try downloading it.

My Windows media player is showing version no 9.00.00.3008.

I have fixed it.

I updated the windows media player from the microsoft website, The version no. is still exactly the same though 9.00.00.3008

But now all the files play

Ah you were mi$$ing some files then!!

I have wmp9.00.00.2980 and all those played straight away
