I had serious problems with my pc, did a factory restore and after awhile system is slowing down. I have Registry Mechanic and WinFix programs that I did not re install. Any Info on which of these are the better one to run for Registry clean up? Or another program that might work better
Y'all are the greatest and have helped me out of several tight jams.... and are very appreciated by all

Hi Kat. I personally wouldn't recommend either of those software programs. If you're looking for a really good registry cleaner, I'd go with Registry Repair from StompSoft. I've had problems with other registry cleaners getting rid of stuff I actually needed. Registry Repair never did that to me and it's really easy to use. One of my favorite features of the product is the free phone and email support. Nothing irks me more than trying to use a product that isn't user friendly and then having to pay the company that makes it just so I can talk with them to get THEIR product working on my system. Gotta love free phone support. I got my copy at http://www.stompsoft.com/registry-repair.html.

What makes you believe this slow down is caused by the registry?
Could be you are having to many programs running at startup.
You did say that things got slower after the restore after awhile. Have you been adding alot of programs and are those programs starting up when you turn on the computer?
I would say 90% of startup programs aren't required, you can access them easily, when needed, from a shortcut on your desktop.
Jeez just noticed the OP's date on this thread-March.

I'd recommend trying StompSoft's Registry Repair (http://www.stompsoft.com/registry-repair.html). I've had the most success with this product, and I've actually tried three others previously. I bought it on the suggestion of a coworker. I've used freeware for other issues, but for registry repair, I've found this product to be better. The cost is affordable, and because it performs better, I'm just happy not to have to deal with the headaches of other programs.

Fred Langa's review of registry cleaners (http://www.informationweek.com/story/showArticle.jhtml?articleID=171203805) is a pretty good assessment of some free and commercial software. His opinion of Stomp's registry cleaning software was pretty brutal. I would recommend that anyone stay away from Stompsoft and try something else.
...my interest faded quickly when the second run reported 124 items, and the third run reported 200 items. To me, that's a sign of something very wrong going on: either the program is introducing new errors as it runs; or is failing to correct some errors it reports; or is falsely reporting as "errors" things that are not really errors at all. Whatever the reason, I prefer not to trust my Registry to software that exhibits behavior like this. Why take a chance, when there are other tools available that don't behave this way? Why buy something that makes you wonder about it when there are so many genuinely good registry cleaners? You can find something in this thread about Registry Cleaners (http://www.cybertechhelp.com/forums/showthread.php?t=58529).

Goldsilver recommended a product in his first and only post.
Safe to say he's promoting it, don't you think?

I think registry mechanic is good. But I been using Regsweep. Seems to pick up more errors and free up more resources. Plus its listed as number one in a few PC mags.
I also agree with you after using PC for a while you start to notice your Speed slowing there are a few things you can do like cleaning your hard drive, defragging and managing startups but, I seem to get the most amount of results from cleaning my registry.

If anyone reads this topic, refer to my post above.
Goldsilver recommended a product in his first and only post.
Safe to say he's promoting it, don't you think? Probably. So did johnnyd. And yet another new member with 6 posts, all recommending the same software site. This topic has turned into a spam magnet.
CoolasIce, I can't think of any good reason to bump this topic just to make an obvious observation. It was dormant for 6 months.
